Ego Break Experiences

The Writing of Your Dreams
In this workshop, learn how dreams have shaped our history. Many creatives have been inspired by their dreams. You will be shown techniques for working with your dreams to get help with plot lines and characters. You’ll receive a notebook to write dream requests and record your dream’s replies.

1 Hour Private Reiki Session
Reiki works to clear disturbances in the body’s energy fields. The disturbances are experienced as different symptoms, such as conscious and unconscious beliefs that do not serve us. Your optional private Reiki session could help with imposter syndrome, fear of success, creativity, procrastination, or your session could be used to help with completing a goal.

Creative Channel
In this workshop, learn more about where creativity comes from and how to access that space. This is an informational and experiential workshop.

Mystery Dinner Party
What better way to experience characterization than stepping into character? If you would like to participate in Ego Break’s Mystery Dinner activity, you’ll receive your character’s information and clue cards in advance of the retreat. You’ll also have access to our mystery pre-game website. On the night of the mystery dinner, each participating guest will play out their character’s role until the mystery has been solved.

Beach Bonfire
Bring your beach blankets or beach chairs, and fill your glass of wine. We’ll sit around the beach bonfire and share wonderfully, unique conversations–you know, the kind of conversations only a group of writers have–as we gaze at the fire and stars.

Scrabble Tournament
We’ll play a couple rounds of Scrabble, and we won’t stop until we have an Ego Break Scrabble Wizard!

Round Table Critique
Read up to 2000 words of a project you would like to receive on the spot critiques from the whole group. Be prepared to humbly receive and give constructive criticism.

Creative Flow for Writers: How to Get into Flow More Often
Have you ever wondered why some days you are able to write effortlessly and others it’s a struggle? In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of Flow and how it applies to your creative work. We will discuss flow triggers, flow blockers, and what happens in the brain and to your ego during flow. We’ll also discuss how to create more passion for your craft and how to prevent burnout along the way. There will be guided exercises and time for questions.

Ego Break
In this workshop, we’ll break down the ego, ego constructs, and ego programing. Once you experience an ego break, you’ll understand how character is created.

My Intent Craft
You’ll choose a word of inspiration and create a keychain, necklace, or bracelet for focus.

Writing Time / Free Time
Each day, there will be plenty of time to write! Get some words on the page. Work out your plot line as you walk along the beach. Or, if you seek inspiration, explore Hatteras Island and the surrounding area.
